Marcia Butler Interior Design

About Marcia

Marcia Butler sees all arts as an expression of the self and an opportunity to connect with others. As an award winning interior designer and oboist, Marcia melds these elements into her ever changing ideas of what is heard and what is seen, whether it is for an audience of hundreds or for a design client of one.

Interior Designer Marcia Butler started her business like many people, with a first opportunity. Her firm quickly flourished as clients continued to recommend her to others. Marcia's unique style of working with people gives her clients a feeling of confidence and the sense of being taken care of. Her love of all design styles and her ability to work fluidly in those styles allows her to help clients define their own unique style. Through discussions and the exploration of the design process she helps them to refine an expression of themselves, translating this into their home or work place. A successful project is when the space reflects her client.

Marcia received her BFA in interior design from the New York School of Interior Design with highest distinction and was given a bronze medal for achievement. In 2005, she won an award for excellence in design from the International Interior Design Association. She is particularly inspired by architecture and art and of course, music. In fact, the sights, sounds and sensations of the world are the creative palette for Marcia.

Praised as a "first rate artist" by the New York Times, oboist Marcia Butler has performed and recorded with musicians of international stature, such as Andre Watts and Keith Jarrett. A recognized champion of the music of our time, Marcia has premiered over 100 new works and has recorded dozens of them. As an active orchestral musician for over two decades, Marcia has performed with virtually every orchestra in New York City, including the Orchestra of St. Lukes, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, The New York Pops, American Composers Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Little Orchestra Society, Mostly Mozart to name just a few. Marcia's experience in the music field has crossed over to the Broadway Theaters, where she has performed in over 20 Broadway shows. She continues to perform as her schedule allows.
